Master Toolmaker Programme
The Master Toolmaker Training Programme is offered by the TDM Powered Programme to equip individuals with the competency tools and techniques necessary to succeed in specialist fields within the manufacturing industry.
The programme is offered as a modular part-time course over a period of two years at technical and academic universities participating in the NTI Programme in Cape Town, Durban and Pretoria. This practical, well-structured programme is based on the German Master Artisan model and has been moulded to the needs of the South African Manufacturing Industry. Entry requirements are a NQF level 4 Mechanical Engineering qualification (or higher) plus a toolmaker trade or equivalent with at least four years of experience in one of the fields of specialisation.
Areas of specialisation include:
- Plastics Mould Making
- Metal Forming Die Making
- Casting and Die Casting or Mouldmaker/Patternmaker
- Machine Building and
- Precision Machining
